The 60" height is pretty much perfect (I'm only 5' tall), it gets my 2 cats a bit higher up, and is an alternate to the top of my bookcase (which only one cat was talented enough to reach). It is slim and tall so I'm able to move it around easily - it doesn't have to be fit into a corner. The structure is pretty sturdy - there are decent sized bolts and posts to hold everything together nicely. The base is also a good thickness and grounds the tree well. You can't see it in the picture, but underneath the house hangs a loose piece of sisal rope to play with. The ball on top seems to be a more sturdy than most - I've had the tree for over a week now and they still haven't torn it off. My cats are full or nearly full grown (one 11 lbs hefty girl and a slender 8-9 lbs guy), so the house (12"x12"x10") is too small for them to fit inside, but they don't seem to mind laying half-in/half-out of it. The two highest platforms are 12" in diameter and 12" x 12" square. These are also a bit smallish for full grown cats, but again - they make themselves comfortable doing the hanging leg thing or curling up - so they're fine. The diagonal second level from the ground is pretty big (21.5" x 12") and despite the way it looks, hasn't presented any tipping hazard when they spring off of it to get to higher levels. The base is 20" x 20".

I purchased this cat tree after my boyfriend and I moved into a tiny one-bedroom apartment in September 2012 (About 5 months ago). I hadn't lived in a space this small since my cat was a kitten, and I decided he needed something he could scratch, climb, and sleep on, as he was used to more space and a couch that my old roommate let him scratch. I decided to try this one after combing the reviews. I was skeptical and very picky in my search, because my cat is around 10lbs, so he needed something stable, and many reviews of other products in my price range described them as only being stable enough for small cats. Assembly of this tree was easy; I was finished within about 30 minutes. The instructions were clear, and the parts fit together logically. The faux fur is a neutral beige color, is very soft, and doesn't shed. The material covering the posts is very tough and durable. Although it is completely stable, it is a little wobbly when my cat jumps on it, so at first he would only go up to the second level. However, after we picked him up and put him on the top level a few times, he realized that it would support his weight. After the first week, he was fully using every aspect of the tree. The mouse toy was ripped off within a day or two, but I expected as much. The rope toy is still in place. He sleeps on the top level curled up in a ball, he sleeps in the little house (sometimes with his head or feet lying outside of it), and scratches the posts (and not our couch!) many times a day. The height of the posts is great because he likes to stretch his body completely when he scratches, and he is about half the height of the tower when he does this. He also loves to climb up and down the whole thing when he's in play mode. I am unimaginably happy with this product.
